JAMES WALLBANK, MANAGING PARTNER
James Wallbank has led Ibaera since the formation of the fund in 2013. He was the former Manager of Business Development for Fortescue Metals Group, responsible for the acquisition of new non-iron investments in Australia and internationally. Prior to joining FMG, James was Manager of Iron Ore for WorleyParsons, one of the largest project delivery businesses with over 30,000 staff. James has a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons), from the University of Adelaide, Australia.
PAUL L’HERPINIERE, GENERAL PARTNER EVALUATION AND EXPLORATION
Paul L'Herpiniere leads the team that generates and evaluates investment opportunities for Ibaera. Former Manager of Exploration at Fortescue Metals Group, and prior to that Gobi Coal and Energy and Anglo American, Paul has carried out multi-commodity project generation and exploration management across Mongolia, South-East Asia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, New Zealand and Australia.
Paul was employed by FMG in 2004, four years before first production. In 2011, his exploration team was one of the largest operating in Australia, with a $100 million exploration budget, over 20 drill rigs and 200 staff in the field. Paul has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Geology from Curtin University, Australia.
DR JON HRONSKY, General Partner GLOBAL TARGETING and Research
Jon Hronsky has more than 25 years of experience in the mineral exploration industry, primarily focused on project generation, technical innovation and exploration strategy development. Jon has worked across a diverse range of commodities and has particular expertise in targeting for gold and base metal deposits, predominantly in Western Australia. Jon is Chairman of the Board of the Centre for Exploration Targeting in Western Australia, former Manager of Strategy & Generative Services for BHP Billiton Mineral Exploration, and former Global Geoscience Leader for WMC Resources Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Geology from the West Australian School of Mines and a Doctorate in Geology from the University of Western Australia.
Peter Hairsine, General Partner Study Management
Peter Hairsine is a specialist study manager with more than 20 years of experience in mining. Former Project Study Manager and Manager of Business Development for Fortescue Metals and Study Manager at WorleyParsons, Peter has been responsible for a number of large project studies in Australian mining. Peter utilizes a total project approach by integrating geology, mining, process and infrastructure inputs to maximize the value of the projects. He combines this with an excellent appreciation of the key commercial and financial requirements to ensure a successful project.
Peter has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia.
Christopher Alexander, General Partner and Chief Financial Officer
Christopher Alexander is an internationally experienced global business leader and qualified Chartered Accountant within the traditional and alternative investment industry. An investment professional with more than 15 years of experience in London, New York and Australia managing a number of high profile onshore and offshore investment management companies including hedge funds, private equity and traditional asset managers, Christopher’s key skills are focused on board-level business strategy, business management, finance, treasury and operations.
Christopher has a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance), is a Chartered Accountant in Australia, New Zealand, England and Wales, and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
